It is so vital for students considering community colleges, technical colleges, and other colleges or universities to look at the accreditation, trusted reviews, the alumni success rate in their chosen fields, caliber of the faculty/trainers, grants available, as well as the true costs prior to enrolling in any adult program.
Also, ask yourself if you are prepared and able to complete the program? What help is there for you there should you need assistance?
Chris Quintana wrote a USA Today story titled, "Online college accused of recruiting unprepared students despite sanctions." Online college accused of recruiting unprepared students, pocketing money – despite sanctions (msn.com)
This report centered on Aiden Peter's detailed account of his work as an adviser at CTU, Colorado Technical University. He enrolled adult in various college programs.
The report details how students, often older or less educated ones, who were often unfamiliar with the application process were targeted to enroll in coursework using federal grants and loans that primarily benefitted the enrolling university. These students wanted a better life and had difficulty accessing it through the education available.
It was also rather surprising to read that some of the students did not have computers or laptops when they enrolled in online college programs. The reporter detailed how some could not read well.
